Know How to Use a Fire Extinguisher

The time to learn how to use a fire extinguisher is now! Since fire spreads so rapidly, a person does not have time to learn how to use a fire extinguisher once the emergency occurs. By remembering the acronym PASS you will be armed with the proper knowledge of how to fight a small fire. PASS stands for Pull, Aim, Squeeze and Sweep.

  1. Pull the pin at the top of the cylinder.

  2. Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire.

  3. Squeeze the handle.

  4. Sweep the contents from side to side at the base of the fire until it goes out.

Watch carefully to make sure the fire is extinguished and does not start blazing again.
