Tips on Conserving Energy with Dishwashers
- If your dishwasher has a "booster heater," lower the temperature setting on your hot water heater to 120 degrees F.
- Scrape off dirty dishes. It is not necessary to rinse or pre-wash them.
- Only run your dishwasher when it is "full."
- The "rinse hold" cycle on your dishwasher uses between 3-7 gallons of hot water. Don’t use the rinse and hold cycle for just a few dishes.
- Let the dishes air dry.
