More Efficient Means More Savings!

Air conditioner efficiency refers to how many Btu’s are removed per hour for each watt of electricity used. Room air conditioners are rated by EER, or the Energy Efficiency Ratio. The Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, or SEER, is used to rate central air conditioning units. An EER of at least 9 or 10 is recommended for a room air conditioner, and a SEER of at least 12 is suggested for central air units. These ratings are displayed on the Energy Guide Label.

Many manufacturers voluntarily participate in the Energy Star-labeling program. This labeling means that these appliances have high EER and SEER ratings.

Whether you are purchasing a new system or unit, or replacing the old, you can save money by making sure it is properly sized, installed correctly, and has a good efficiency rating.
